Toto is an American rock band formed in the year 1977 in Los Angeles. The band is well known for a music style that usually combines elements of pop, soul, rock, progressive rock, funk, hard rock, blues, as well as jazz. The band was founded by Joseph Williams and David Paich. The two recruited Steve Lukather (guitars, vocals) and Steve Porcaro (keyboards) in the 1980s. The touring members included Lenny Castro (percussion), Shem von Schroeck (bass) and Shannon Forrest (drums).

Toto band has sold more than forty million albums and continues to be a popular band that draws millions of rock music fans to standing room only events globally. With over forty years together, Toto is still one of the best-selling touring acts in the planet. The band has enjoyed great commercial success since the late 1970s, starting with their eponymous debut that was released in 1978. This band is widely known for their hits such as the Rosanna, Hold the line and Africa.
In 1982, Hungate left followed by Kimball who also left the band in 1984. The two also rejoined the group from 1998 until 2008. The group was hit by a major setback in 1992 when Jeff Porcaro died. Later in 2008, Lukather departed from the group, and this may have prompted other members going their separate ways. However, the group later rejoined in the summer of 2010 and went on a short Europen tour to benefit one of the founding members Mike Porcaro who had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. After battling the illness for quite some time, Porcaro succumbed to the disease and died in 2015.

In 2015, the group broke their silence after 10 years and released their latest studio album –TOTO XIV. This album shook the whole music industry with its excellent musician-ship, contemporary lyrical commentary, masterful arrangements, and melodies that grouped together the genius of Paich, Lukather, and Williams. The album debut made in top ten lists in 9 countries across the world, becoming their first triumphant album since the year 1988 in both the UK and U.S. With their fortieth anniversary coming later in 2018, the bands still has some major plans going to celebrate their long-term careers.
